Hey Guys, New member here

I use my old Fender J bass all the time. Had it since 1970. It's like a piece of my arm.(Badly in need of a paint job)

I did just pick up a Samick Artist Ser 6 string. I haven't used it to play out with yet but it's far cry from the usual image of a Samick. Neck through, (nice thin Fender profile too) Active Pick ups and diecent hardware and bridge. (First bass or guitar I ever had with active electronics) 

It is a typical brand new 6 stringer that some one got as a first bass and got frustrated and it was never played, or even set up by the first owner. 

One thing i did right off was to adjust the truss rods, and imedeately found the nut is WAY high. As soon as i get a .130" file I will correct that and also get a new set of strings before completing the set up. I think I'm going to start out with a set of half rounds (we used to call them "polished") and go from there. 

I'll let everybody know how things go after I get it "up and running" Maybe that will be the one I play out with the most if it gets good after the set up. (I will refinish my J if I can get to using the Samick at jobs)
