Hey Greg, I use a 79 Fender J that is BADLY in need of refinishing most of the time but I picked up a Samick Artist ser. 6 Stringer. a few months ago. Now first, don't let the Samick name fool you. It's an Active, Neck through with a Fender profile Neck and when it was brand new it listed a like 3 grand. I am glad of the Samick bad rap,though because I got it for 4 hun. It's also a 6 string and that is a plus because there are one hell of a lot of 6 string basses that were purchased, but only a very few that were played for more then an hour or two and this is e case with this one because it WAS like new when I got it but now it has been out on stage a few times and.... Well, they are for playing and not for polishing. I have to admit it was kicking my ass for the first couple of months but now it is starting to feal quite natural and it makes the Fender feal like a toy ukulele when I paly it! But "favorite" bass ????? Guess it depends on what I am playing.
