--I sure am partial to my old trusty dusty old 1980 Japanese Fender 75 Jazz reissue with the DP149 ultra jazz pick-ups in it & the Gota bridge that I put on it also. I recently picked up a Hofner Contemporary 500/1 short scale bass, which is turning out to be a really good dependable bass, that I'm finding myself playing more & more. It's really lyte, plays really easy, with fast action & I've been getting a lot of complements about the nice rich tone it has too. It came with the Hofner Roundwounds strings, which I changed to the short scale roundwound strings, that I use, but can't spell. I didn't go with flatwounds because, I fill this is a pretty versatile bass with the roundwounds & I'm not that big on Flats anymore. I've been putting this bass through it's paces & it's a really damm good solid bass. - In [email protected], Steve Molk <bassmansince62@...> wrote: > > Hey Greg, > > I use a 79 Fender J that is BADLY in need of refinishing most of the time but I picked up a Samick Artist ser. 6 Stringer. a few months ago. > > Now first, don't let the Samick name fool you. It's an Active, Neck through with a Fender profile Neck and when it was brand new it listed a like 3 grand. I am glad of the Samick bad rap, though because I got it for 4 hun. It's also a 6 string and that is a plus because there are one hell of a lot of 6 string basses that were purchased, but only a very few that were played for more then an hour or two and this is e case with this one because it WAS like new when I got it but now it has been out on stage a few times and.... Well, they are for playing and not for polishing. > > I have to admit it was kicking my ass for the first couple of months but now it is starting to feal quite natural and it makes the Fender feal like a toy ukulele when I paly it! > > But "favorite" bass ????? The Fender is good, I don't mind if it gets knocked etc, sounds great and is a totally different thing to the Jaydee. The Jaydee is treated as a baby. > > > >Greg > > > > > > > > > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] > ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
