I use an Ampeg B200R for just about everything these days. I had one small problem with the amp after about two years. Something had broken off inside & was rattling around inside the cab. It was under warranty, so I could of sent it in to an Ampeg service center, but I felt they would only repair the problem & it might happen again. So I took it to my amp tech, in the bay. A place called The Amp Lab. The owner Keith Holland did a great job of correcting the problem, so that it would never happen again. He said the design of the power part of the amp, was a great design. But who ever designed the cab, should be shoot. He did a really great repair & upgrade job on the cab, so that this would never happen again. No more rattling at all & no more problems. I've taken it everywhere that I pl
ay { it's got an XLR out } these days & I'm gigging out a lot. As matter of fact, after he fixed the amp, he said that I shouldn't have any more problems with the amp at all, except for maybe a tube going bad sometime in the future. It's just a poor design on the cab only, that can be repaired. The design of the power part of the amp is very solid & a good design. You will have to pay out of your own pocket to get the cab repaired right though. If anybody has one of these amps, they are a great amp, fairly lite too, but you will need to take it into a good amp tech & pay for the correct repair to the cab though. If you take it into an Ampeg service center, all they will do is replace the part & not really fix the problem. I also have an SVT head with a 410s cab, but I always prefer to
take my B200R, due to it's tone, lightness & it's easy to move around. If I were to buy another combo amp in the future, I'd probably go for a Mesa Boogie. I played out of one of those Mesa Boogie Scouts recently. Talk about a really nice lite little amp, that has the power & wattage to cover what ever it is, that you would want to do. I tried out that GC Acoustic stuff & was not that impressed. I also tried out a Mark Bass combo amp too, which is a very nice lite amp, with lots of tone to be had. I also tried out a Trace which I like a lot too. But for myself, I sure like that Mesa Boogie stuff. IMO

I tried a Pignose Hog 30, but then, I found out , it doesn't have the output ,that I need. Now, I seen a Peavey combo, with a 12 in it, and I believe, it has a peak range of 80 watts? I think , that would work, so, doesn't anybody out there in bass land, tried one of those? The Fenders are good too, but , the weight factor, was a factor to me.I have a weight limit put on me, from my doctors, so I really can't take a "shot in the Dark", in this matter, plus my "funds" are limited also. Before my physical condition, came into being, I used to carry around , a Acoustic 136, "back in the day", and it was a
really good bass amp. And, I always wanted a compact Kustom 150, with the single 15, great bass tone. For those guys, from Back in the day, whats your favorite bass amp? Sunn, Acoustic 370 or 360, the Ampeg SVT, or the most underrated fender bass amp, the models, 400PS, and the "bass" Dual Showman. And, then, The Kustoms. I seen, Plushes, Oranges,Kent, Vox, and a weird amp called the The Olvier, (where the head came up from within it!)Gibson, made a few. My uncle had a Danelectro, with reverb for bass? Trayor, etc. And, I know many bass players , Back then, brought the Fender bassman, with the two 12's, with wasn't that good for bass after all. Soulman
