Hey Soulman

I gave up on easy transportable bass amps too. I tried some of the modern 2-10 and other "buzz bass" amps (Tweeter in a bass amp. WTF, over ???????) but I have gone back to the the old stuff.

Still have my '64 Bassman I bought new I use around the house. I also used to run a dual showman I still have and never use anymore, but my favorite to date is the old bea-up Kustom K200 with the matching Tuck and Roll JBL 2 15" Cab I got for $245 off ebay a couple of years ago. (I'm one lucky SOB!) It's a class A killer!

A Killer in a lot of ways too. Especially in loading it in and out of the truck. While it can be done by one guy (If he's good and drunk, anyway) but when it comes to hauling it up and down steps there is a damn good reason they put 2 handles on it!

We even use 2-15"+Horn PA speakers but that old Kustom keeps right up with them (unmiked) and can even run over them if I get carried away! OK, it's hard to move but it sure is neat standing a foot or two away from it and having it feel like there is a window fan blowing on your legs!

Wish I could have helped more but I never had any luck with the lightweights either. (Maybe a Portaflex - but they were heavy as hell too)

Smokey

PS I have been known to put a Crate Powerblock on top of the Bassman Cab. but eventhough it's only 4-1/2 pounds the Cabinet is still a back breaker!

>Now, I brought three combos, that I thought would be good for a five string bass, and boy, was I wrong. The "new" Acoustic bass amp, the B100, is a good amp, but it is quite heavy for me. I tried a Pignose Hog 30, but then, I found out , it doesn't have the output ,that I need. Now, I seen a Peavey combo, with a 12 in it, and I believe, it has a peak range of 80 watts? I think , that would work, so, doesn't anybody out there in bass land, tried one of those? The Fenders are good too, but , the weight factor, was a factor to me.I have a weight limit put on me, from my doctors, so I really can't take a "shot in the Dark", in this matter, plus my "funds" are limited also. Before my physical condition, came into being, I used to carry around , a Acoustic 136, "back in the day", and it was a really good bass amp. And, I always wanted a compact Kustom 150, with the single 15, great bass tone. For those guys, from Back in the day, whats your favorite bass amp?
Sunn, Acoustic 370 or 360, the Ampeg SVT, or the most underrated fender bass amp, the models, 400PS, and the "bass" Dual Showman. And, then, The Kustoms. I seen, Plushes, Oranges,Kent, Vox, and a weird amp called the The Olvier, (where the head came up from within it!)Gibson, made a few. My uncle had a Danelectro, with reverb for bass? Trayor, etc. And, I know many bass players , Back then, brought the Fender bassman, with the two 12's, with wasn't that good for bass after all. Soulman
