Re:50 Watt Bass Amps..just some thoughts.

I used a blx90 combo by trace a couple of times. It used a rather  
ingenious front port to get one hell of a belt out of the smallish amp.

I'd echo some of the other guys postings, the speaker quality makes a  
huge diff. I'd wager alumin cones probably make things more efficient  
as well.

On a different tack I used to do small jazz gig with a 2x8 peavey 20w  
brite box amp, no eq on it, just volume; with a bit of mid the thing  
roared and drowned out the piano.

Eq can be your friend
