Re:50 Watt Bass Amps..just some thoughts.

Anyone ever come across a vintage (guessing it's late '60's) tube General Dynamics 200 watt power amp? It was manufactured right in my home town of Rochester, NY (Home of MXR, Ashley, ART, Whirlwind- to name a few).  I picked it up dirt cheap from a newspaper ad many years ago, and it still works, just as good as when I first got it.  It has four 6L6GC power tubes and it was originally a rackmount unit, but the dude I got it from built a custom vented box for it with handles and a built in cooling fan. I used to use it regularly as a studio monitor amp (very warm sounding) until one practice, one of the power tubes blew and took out a recently reconed JBL K120... I replaced the 6L6GC's and haven't had an incident since. I was told that bands used such power amps for their "mains" back in t
 he day (find it hard to believe they got by back then with such little power?) until bands like The Stones and The Who discovered the nuclear potential in using Ampeg SVT's........ I never really thought of using it as part of a Bass rig, since I have a '69 Ampeg V-4 (it has four 7027A's), but I bet it would sound awesome. Anyone even ever see one of these little beasts?
