I'm considering buying an Electric Upright Bass (EUB), and am absolutely clueless about these contraptions. Amongst my small collection of bass guitars (two), I also own an older laminated blond Kay bass. Last week, while I was tuning it up just before a gig, my low E-string broke. That's never happened on that instrument in the 20-some years I've owned it. Lucky for me, I had an older gut string to replace it, but unlucky for me, after the gig, when I took it to a local string shop, the repairman pointed out a few problems with the instrument that altogether adds up to about $1000.00 . So, this has me contemplating replacing the Kay with an EUB. I've done a little online research and came across a few that seem interesting:
Stagg (a couple different models)
NS Design (also a couple different models)
Cecilio CEDB-1DW
Palatino VE-500
Dean Pace
Any thoughts/opinions on any of these?
