Tremolos last longer?

Hi folks

I'd be grateful if someone could explain why a tremolo lasts longer - if that is in fact true.

I understood from a posting a while back that

"Bending does not significantly stress reeds. Excess energy that the
reed cannot turn into sound is what stresses reeds. I've killed reeds
on tremolo harmonicas where I never bent a note, simply from too-loud
playing. Ditto chromatics. Some players have poor bending technique and
stress reeds because they hit too hard but that's not due to bending

So if stressing reeds is caused by poor playing technique then diatonic. chromatic, tremolo doesn't necessarily last longer than one or the other.   Yet people quote a diatonic as lasting a year or at best 18 months, chromatic lasting years and a tremolo lasting 'longer than a diatonic'.

Any comments greatly appreciated. Only a beginner keen to know more!
