When I have a song to learn, I take the appropriate instrument with me 
and every moment I can, I work on it.  Mostly, however, what I have to 
learn is group-work:  finding keys on the fly, synchronizing with other 
instruments, et cetera; and since little of this is available to me, I 
have to catch it as it comes.  I keep my harmonica wrap (sort of like 
what a set of open-end wrenches come in, made by my wife Lori) in our 
car for this purpose, so that when the opportunity presents itself, I'm 
ready.
