Options:

    * Get out your backlight inverter.
    * Add a switch to switch it on/off.
    * You can check the inverter input voltage, if it's 12v get an ERG
      SmartForce inverter able to drive a 4x40 backlight and replace the
      old one with it(Haven't tried to replace the inverter so that's
      why I tell you to check voltage but it will work if it doesn't
      drain too much more current, if so, the fuse will break).

The cards that you put in there are Kawai DC-32 RAM cards(They got a 
battery).

I told you to replace the inverter, if you are able to do it, I'll tell 
you what you can do with a soldering iron in it while it's open:
Replace the 064D opamps for TL074 ones(MI-012 PCB).
Add solder on every solder joints on the PSU board(The one with the 
inverter).
Replace the 56k  feedback resistors with 147k as told in K5 hack page of 
www.kfuenf.org.
Clean buttons that are working bad.(Look www.kfuenf.org for this also).
