Make sure that both the MIDI Out of the K5 is going into your computer's MIDI In __AND__ the MIDI Out of the computer is going into the MIDI In of the K5. Whith some synths, all you need to do is hook the MIDI Out of the syth into the MIDI In of the computer. The K5 is not like this. The SysEx transfer requires a two-way communication so both the MIDI in and MIDI Out need to be correctly connected.

I don't know if that's what's going wrong but I thought I'd mention it.

Jeff

Thanks for the quick reply. I've done all of those things and rechecked my midi connector's settings on the computer to make usre they are correct. I have no problems doing sys ex dumps with my other synths but this one puzzles me. It's not consistently sending dumps out of the K-5 via sys ex either. I've tried using the Kfleuf program and have also had no luck with it, it's probably something stupid on my part that I'm just not catching but I've worked with this all day and still no luck.
Thanks,Scott

In the MIDI menu on the K5, make sure that RCV and TRS channels are set
to 1, that OMNI is off, that TRS and RCV Exclusive are on, and that you
turned off the protect switch next to the MIDI connectors. Also, make
sure you turn protect ON when you don't transfer or edit sounds as you
might have to internally reset it. (I haven't tested the latest ROM
enough to know if it changes something. But, as far as I know, nothing
bad happened with the new ROM.)
