Other things you could look at :
-When you press MIDI twice, there's an other menu, make sure PGM is on.
-When you're trying to write to a DC-32 memory card, the memory
protection switch is set by pressing System twice.

Summary of synth's own config : (Do it before you start the software,
some options will turn off again if the synth is turned off.)

First MIDI config page:
Channel :
RCV=1 TRS=1 OMNI=OFF
Exclusive :
RCV=ON TRS=ON

PGM=SINGLE

Second MIDI config page:
Transmit and Receive:
PGM=ON

Write to internal memory:
Physical Protect switch set to Off.

Write to external memory:
2nd System config page :
Protect=Off

If that doesn't work, you might want to try another MIDI interface.
(joystick port ones for example)
If it works, then you will either need a new ROM or another interface.
