Resynthesis Program

I'd like to start designing a resynthesis program for the K5. Here's 
what I have in mind: 

The program will take a wave file and place it in memory. Once this 
is done, you can adjust the starting position of the waveform in the 
wavefile. At this point, you can enter the frequency of the waveform 
(the program will assume that the waveform is periodic - comes from 
an instrument with a definite pitch), or you can allow the program 
to determine the frequency on its own, though the results may not be 
as accurate. 

Once these adjustments are made, the program can analyze a single 
cycle of the waveform at the starting point you set to give you a 
snap shot of the harmonic spectrum. Then you can transmit the 
spectrum via MIDI to the K5. You can also listen to the 
resynthesized harmonic spectrum before sending it to hear if it is 
what you are looking for. The idea is that you can get a good 
approximation of an instrument's harmonic spectrum by playing around 
with the waveform starting point and listening to the resynthesized 
results.

A coupla restrictions: My primary programming language now is C#. So 
the program will require that the .Net runtime be present in order 
for the program to run. Also, I will be using DirectX for handling 
the waveforms. This will require that the managed runtime version 
for DirectX also be installed. Hopefully, this won't be a problem.
