Les, Sounds great! My thoughts: In order to really do a decent job of resynthesis, first we need to get the overall envelope of the sound, and apply a reasonable approximation to the DDA envelope. Next we need to get a good representative spectrum of the sound, and then figure out which overtones change the most over the duration of the sound, perhaps in order from least changing to most, and assign them to the four envelopes, one being most static, four being most dynamic. It would be better if we could implement it in Java, so that it is cross platform. Perhaps it won't be too difficult to port it to Java once it is done. I would say, go for it, then we can work on porting it. There are several other programmers who have done some work in this area, perhaps we can all network on this project - Jens Groh, Xavier Besse (K5000s editor) and Klaus Tzieply (K5 Sysex bank loader). Ultimately, I would like to see all these projects unified into one app that supports the K5, K5000s, K3, and could perhaps be extended to other additive synths later.
