Note that the synth starts to act strange when RAM is corrupt. That 
could be signs of a dying battery, or too much SysEx transfers if the 
synth uses ROM V1.0. The only way to clear the RAM is to replace the 
battery, better change it as the same time.

As I said earlier, the PSU often has some cracked solder joints. 
Reworking them can fix a lot of problems (hum, intermittent backlight, 
no sound, etc.)

The only relays in the K5 are the sound output mute relays. If they 
click and the screen distorts, one power line is probably having 
problems. Sounds like a solder joint, dead capacitor, or something similar.
