   I know what you mean.  I can remember my early starts as well.  
What really helped me was following the answers to question posted 
here and over at KLF. Stephen Kay's FAQs are also a great place to 
search.
   One of the problems I notice with all manuals, not just Karma's, 
is the indexing and table of contents.  We may have a word or phrase 
in mind for finding a solution, but those descriptors simply are not 
there in the index of TOC.  So, what's to do?  Find a synonym or 
similar word or phrase and keep searching.  Most of the time, I do 
come up with some answers.
   It's taken me a long time to get to the level of programming that 
I have achieved, but it came with many frustrating lessons taken in 
incremental steps followed by quantum leaps followed by more 
incremental steps.  I think you know what I mean. For the benefit of 
E (our previous poster) and others in similar constraints, you have 
to be willing to make mistakes and learn from them, so long as you 
don't bust your Karma....LOL.
  Now I know you've seen this before, Stephen, but for those who are 
interested in beginning combi creation, you can start by 
constructing a simple 1 module drum combi with a pad. I posted a 
mini tutorial on how to set this up in answer to a KLF member's 
question. Here's a link to that thread.  I'd suggest you copy and 
print it out and take it to your Karma to try:

I do want to encourage Karma users to RTFM (including Paul's great 
tutorial on Combi Creation). I know it's tough to thumb through them 
and try to make some sense, but you have to start somewhere.  And 
make sure you do it at the Karma.
