Hi DC, "Arpeggio" can be defined as the playing of the tones of a chord separately, rather than simultaneously. "Strumming" on the other hand is the brushing or sweeping of strings in one motion repeatedly. So, the two concepts are different. You can play an arpeggio on the guitar by plucking the strings individually in a pattern one at a time. In strumming, you brush them at the same time. Now, the KARMA function employs GEs (generated effects) to yield rhythmic, melodic, and harmonic notes in a pattern. These GEs are light years beyond Arps. A list of these GEs is found on pages 10 to 29 of the "Voice Name List" manual that comes with the Karma. You will note there are 1189 GEs (arps on steroids). The first 32 are standard arps. Guitar GEs, including strumming, are found on page 17 & 18, GEs 432 to 405. Now, keep in mind, if you want to generate guitar sounds, you don't have to stick with "guitar" GEs. I've used drum GEs to play guitar programs. So, with 4 KARMA modules to work with to the 1189th power, the possibilities are endless (almost). There is a factor in Bear's pdf calculated by Scott that reveals we would never in our lifetime be able to program all of those possibilities. Welcome to KARMA technology.
