Hi Guys,
The problem(s) is not with the Karma or the OS update. You need
to follow Stephen Kay's instructions to a "T", else you will end up
with problems.
The "fly in the oinment" is the PCG files that come with ALL
EXBs - They are Triton specific. Why does this cause problems?
Karma's banks A, B, E and G are not in the same location as in
Tritons. Hence the mismatch with combis pointing to the wrong
program. So, anyone installing EXBs in a Karma, MUST be extra
cautious when loading the PCGs associated with them. You cannot
load the entire PCG as is from Korg. You must drill down (keep
opening the PCG file) in disk mode till you see the banks to be
loaded, then direct them to C or D (or F for MOSS). Do not load any
EXB PCG to Banks A, B, or E. Those are your preset banks.
I have EXB 05 Vintage Archives, EXB 09 Trance Attack, and EXB MOSS.
In addition, I have all of my Combi Collections, Karma Lab's, and
various other 3rd party materil, not to mention my "template
projects" banks. I can swap PCGs without any problems whatsoever.
I learned quite some time ago how to "drill down" the PCG in order
to direct programs and combis to whatever bank I wish. In all cases
I NEVER load programs to preset banks A, B, or E; and I leave G
alone because some combis reference those general midi sounds as
well.
Hope that helps.
Cheers,
