You are best to ask the "Karma Creator" himself, Stephen Kay over at Karma Lab Forums. Any answer you get here will only be circumspective. The problem with a Univeral Karma (Karma Creator) is that it requires a sound platform or set of platforms. MIDI routings and parameter assignments are quite specific within the current KARMA Technology. A Karma keyboard workstation can drive other midi devices or VSTis, but that entails extra programming to find the best link-up. The same would be true for Karma Creator. The wonderful potential is there, but the work involved integrating everything would be quite intense. The best scenario I think would be for Karma 2 to evolve into a VSTi on steroids. That is not impossible if VST partnerships could be engaged. However, having said that, I would expect that the VSTi worthy of being driven by KARMA 2 would certainly be a very important consideration. So, could you imagine a KARMA 2 - Spectrosonics marriage, for example. That's where I would love to see the technology progress. Yes, Korg would not like this at all given that K2 is couched solidly with the OASYS. Note - K2 did not migrate to anything new at this Winter NAMM 2006. I wonder why. RADIAS borrowed from MMT (the synth engine in the OASYS), so why did it not also borrow from K2? We can only guess at these matters. Ask Stephen directly.
