  hey
i'm Andrew i'm 18 and i live in melbourne australia, and just bought myself a karma second hand off ebay
to go with my Korg ms2000
(after 2 years of wanting something better...i finally got a decent workstation/keyboard to replace my yamaha ypr-30 which had only 8 sounds and a midi output that didnt work...)

i was originally planning on saving up for a triton LE, but then saw it on eBay at a similar price, and after some quick research decided the karma was a better keyboard so went with that

i want to start doing some industrial techno music
using primarily the karma and ms2000 sounds, and using cubase sx as the sequencer but have been having some problems...well just finding weird little qwerks

you guys have most likely resolved all issues i'm likely to have in earlier posts... but that would involve hours of reading archives, so i might as well just ask it again

when the karma is in sequencer mode, and i'm using cubase, i've found that i cannot change the programs in cubase without the karma defaulting to the (g) general midi bank, i found the cubase section where you can add devices, it lists some popular synths and workstations by various brands, the karma is missing from this list so i tried the triton options instead as i've heard these are very similar
but still, when i browse through the programs in cubase and it displays the names of default triton sounds (i do not know which triton its for... perhaps classic?) even when for exampe i choose "b" bank sound 32... it'll still go to G
with the ms2000 i dont have this problem as it is limited to only 128 program locations.... it can use general midi
i heard mention of sysex and msb/lsb numbers... how do i use these? is there a simple program i can use, or a device profile for cubase that works well with the karma (like that triton thing i found)...is setting hte karma to "gm2" mode or "korg" mode make any difference? what is the difference?

i've also found that when i find the sounds using the karmas menus, then setting the karma to "local off" with a drum patch
in cubase everything works fine until i enter drum map view
and then all i can hear is the default noisystabber sound instead of drums..... its quiet strange... if i set local to on then i hear both
i'm sure i have the channels correct... and i tested it, the same channel without changing anything changing from drum map to normal pianoroll and it would change from drums to noisystabber... its a small thing i know... i could just get used to programming drums in pianoroll mode.... but it still just pisses me off...

oh, and is their a good computer program for managing programs/patches on my karma... sending and receiving them rearranging them and backing them up on my pc?

and is their anyway to save a song made in the karma's internal sequencer onto the karma? or can you only save to floppy?

sorry if i'm asking too many questions in my first post, i'm still learning
thanks for any help in advance
  andrew
