Thanks for the great comments. It happened again tonight at rehearsal. Tuning problems in the middle of a set. With a show on Friday, I’m sweating bullets now. This is crazy.

You said modulation wheel and it might be that, but I wonder if it can be related to the pitch bend wheel also. I THINK there may be correlation with using the pitch bend more than the modulation. Maybe both?

I had it looked at last year and the tech could find nothing wrong with it and I can’t detect any mechanical flaws in either wheel. Maybe there is a setting problem within a “set-up”?

A hang while booting can be caused by detected input from a controller. Coupled with the detuning problem – I’d suggest you had a good look at the modulation wheel and the wiring/connectors around it.

Charlie et al, I love my PC3K8 but have had some weird things going on such as:

- suddenly it will detune certain programs with a set-up...strings will be flat, for example. A shut down and restart of the keyboard solves the problem but takes almost a minute to complete.

- I have detected a slight “noise” coming from the outputs. It’s subtle and not noticable in any live situation but there is definitely not a whisper clean output. Something is going on and yes, I have used shielded, balanced cables.

- Once in a while, it will hangup during bootup and not even start up. This has happened a few times, but evetually it will boot up, for some unknown reason.

I have wondered if any of these are “known issues” for the PC3K8. I’m frustrated right now because there’s nothing worse than unreliability. I took it in for service last year due to the start-up problem, but the tech, very experienced, could find nothing obviously wrong with it.

This is a puzzle and has me wanting something different, though I do love it when everything is operating as it’s supposed to.

Thanks.

Hi Iacopo,

It sounds like you've got a wonderful piano module. I went searching through YouTube to find a demo of the Deep Space effect, but I couldn't find anything that specifically showed how it affects the sound.

Perhaps you could upload a demo to YouTube to let the rest of us hear how it sounds?

I'd recommend using a PC3K8 for a keyboard controller. It's got great weighted keys and a full 88 key bed.

Charlie

  How are you?

inside micropiano I found an effect called DEEP SPACE.

  it reminds me pink Floyd.

could you help me to remind the song title?

  thanks

  Iacopo
