What do you mean "explore the world of MIDI"? 

 Different applications call for different routings and parameter settings.
 

 As already stated, MIDI has nothing to do with audio, so the connection with your Behringer is probably not necessary.  You could conceivably set things up for the Kurzweil (the superior MIDI controller between your two keyboards) to send a MIDI message to the mixer to change scenes, but that's a pretty advanced application.
