Hi James..As a life-long and dedicated Ztar fanatic and devotee ( and I hav=
e 5 of them, including a Mini 12 Ztar )=20
I would look on e-bay.=C2=A0 For example; Starr labs Ztar Z7S | eBay
=20=20
|=20=20
|=20=20=20
|=20=20=20
| $ 1700.00 | |
|
|
|=20=20

Starr labs Ztar Z7S | eBay
Includes: USB cable, Gig bag, start up CD, and Starr Labs PB-1. This is a =
midi controller, can be used to contro... | |
|
|
=20
The Z7s is not the same as your model of course, but probably fairly simila=
r in original cost..=20
Look at the other older ztars listed which have been there for ages.=20
They are specialised instruments (and ones that take dedication and lots of=
practice to play well),=C2=A0 and therefore resale value is nothing like t=
hat of a similar priced strat for example, because very few musicians want =
to put in the required hours, and so the user-base and 'prospective purchas=
er-base' is many times smaller.=20
This low resale value is not logical, because the newer Ztars have much imp=
roved sensors, more comprehensive midi implimentation and O/S, and faster a=
nd more accurate string response (if fitted with strings) ,=C2=A0 compared =
to earlier models. =C2=A0 In comparison, a strat is always just a few bits =
of wood, some plastic, and some well machined, designed (50 years ago)=C2=
=A0 and fitted metal. (and I own and play strats as well)=C2=A0=20
Similarly, compared to Chapman Sticks (which often increase in re-sale val=
ue ) this also makes no sense..=C2=A0 Maybe Harvey should have made bamboo =
or alloy bodies and necks for his Starr Switches.=20
However, I can understand your frustration. When I got my first Ztar it see=
med unplayable (in any reasonably adept guitaristic-fashion anyway)=20
The guy I bought the Mini 12 from experienced this also, and just gave up a=
nd stored his brand-new instrument in his parent's garage for years.
Then I started two handed tapping and the Ztar soon became a monster,=C2=A0=
on which I could begin to play things that IMO make standard midi guitar (=
and I still have Axon and Roland systems)=C2=A0 sound very boring, very lim=
ited, and totally tedious, (to me)=C2=A0 compared to Ztar.=C2=A0=C2=A0=20
On midi guitar, I was limited to things I could play or work out as a guita=
rist (in various tunings). On both-hands-tapping Ztar, the bar and the poss=
ibiliies are raised infinitely higher.
Of course, advertise it if you think you can't get any further with it, but=
I would say personally, that's a big mistake, and that you should persever=
e.=C2=A0=20
All Ztarists sound very different, and it's an instrument that you can trul=
y carve out a unique style on. (not easy on guitar with 10 trillion other f=
olks trying to=C2=A0 do the same)=C2=A0=20
I've been a pro guitarist (and pro midi-guitarist) most of my working life,=
and for me, Ztar sets me free, and makes the impossible, possible. (or on =
a really bad day, at least convincingly do-able :-)=C2=A0good luck=20
