Hello Richard,
I enjoyed reading about your life playing Harvey's Ztars. I have a Casio mi=
di guitar and Roland GR-20 and GR-33. I ordered a Baby Ztar in March and am=
waiting for Harvey to ship it soon. I have wanted a Ztar for many years an=
d can't wait to get mine!

The Z7s is not the same as your model of cour se, but probably fairly simil=

Look at the other older ztars listed which have been there for ages.=20
They are specialised instruments (and ones that take dedication and lots of=
practice to play well), and therefore resale value is nothing like that o=
f a similar priced strat for example, because very few musicians want to pu=
t in the required hours, and so the user-base and 'prospective purchaser-ba=
se' is many times smaller.=20
This low resale value is not logical, because the newer Ztars have much imp=
roved sensors, more comprehensive midi implimentation and O/S, and faster a=
nd more accurate string response (if fitted with strings) , compared to ea=
rlier models. In comparison, a strat is always just a few bits of wood, s=
ome plastic, and some well machined, designed (50 years ago) and fitted me=
tal. (and I own and play strats as well)=20=20
Similarly, compared to Chapman Sticks (which often increase in re-sale valu=

oy bodies and necks for his Starr Switches.=20
However, I can understand your frus tration. When I got my first Ztar it se=
emed unplayable (in any reasonably adept guitaristic-fashion anyway)=20
The guy I bought the Mini 12 from experienced this also, and just gave up a=
nd stored his brand-new instrument in his parent's garage for years.
Then I started two handed tapping and the Ztar soon became a monster, on w=
hich I could begin to play things that IMO make standard midi guitar (and I=
still have Axon and Roland systems) sound very boring, very limited, and =
totally tedious, (to me) compared to Ztar.=20=20=20
On midi guitar, I was limited to things I could play or work out as a guita=
rist (in various tunings). On both-hands-tapping Ztar, the bar and the poss=
ibiliies are raised infinitely higher.
Of course, advertise it if you think you can't get any further with it, but=
I would say personally, that's a big mistake, and that you should persever=
e.=20=20
All Ztarists sound very different, and it's an instrument that you can trul=
y carve out a unique style on. (not easy on guitar with 10 trillion other f=
olks trying to do the same)=20=20
I've been a pro guitarist (and pro midi-guitarist) most of my working life,=
and for me, Ztar sets me free, and makes the impossible, possible. (or on =
a really bad day, at least convincingly do-able :-)
