Agree, I also rip to FLAC and have allot of old 60's and 70's long songs
that play fine (e.g. "In a Godda Davida" <baby!>). I don't, but I think
others rip audio books into a single file.

I would approach solving the issue by isolating and eliminating
components (hardware/software/media) as the source of the trouble. Swap,
if the problem remains, it wasn't that. If it's gone, break that down.

I don't have your system in front of me, but if I did, I would suspect
your HDD. It's the only thing (from my very minimal understanding) that
makes sense. The forum is littered with "it works when I plug it into
the PC" comments. Like Gary said previously, Refreshing your HDD's is a
smart thing. Use the old one that "works on your PC" on your PC :)

So, a not too subtle nudge to try the thumb drive. It's easy, maybe 15
minutes. How to is previously in this thread.
