Jacob, Everything after the 18-byte header is exactly the contents of the MP3 file - I'd suggest making ascii hex files of the input and output streams and comparing them. BTW the stream also includes the ID3 tags - anything that's not an MPEG frame is ignored by the decoder; I'm pretty sure all decoders do that.
