Fair enough.  Nobody but me has had anything good to say about it and
even I would be just as happy with 'reshuffle on startup' and 'reshuffle
at end of playlist' as I would be with full random.

Why?  Robert has already implemented the functionality[1] and the only
objections I've seen to it are your statements that it might cause
the same song to be played twice in a row and that you think the user
should always have control.  I don't see how adding it as an option -
particularly an option that defaults to 'off' - would take control away
from the user and if someone doesn't want to risk ever hearing the same
song twice in a row, they can just turn it off (or, rather, not turn
it on).

The only problem I can see with it is that, when turned on, 'reshuffle at
end of playlist' would break the circularity of the playlist.  'Reshuffle
on startup' (which you didn't state an opinion on, but I'm guessing that
you're probably not in favor if it) wouldn't even have that drawback.

Do you have some other negative result in mind which I haven't thought of?

I don't see how 'shuffle albums' relates to anything in this thread...


[1]  Granted, there isn't an interface to control it and I have no idea
how complex it would be to create that piece.
