I second this request – I was just about
to post independently when I saw this thread. My server really is on a server and
I don’t log on to it except in dire emergencies, so manually restarting
the server is too interactive. A method is needed to initiate a rescan of the library
(a crude but effective way to do this would be just to have the server restart itself).
The obvious place to do this would be in the web interface, but something that can
be kicked off using the remote control would be nicer.

The easiest way is to restart your server.

If that won't work, you'll need to change your
directory setup to

something else and then back.

What platform are you running on? It should
detect that directories

have changed automatically.
