My next project will do something along these lines using off the shelf components. Essentially there will be a _tiny_ Linux server running Perl as the SliMP3 Server, and a commercial (unless I get it together to build one) NAS (Network Attached Storage) device. The App server will probably be the following. Check how cute, and tell me you don't want one. http://www.intrinsyc.com/products/referencedesigns/cerfcube.asp The NAS will be either the Quantum, Sony or Kintronics. They are kind of expensive, so I'm trying to find another way but it's the software that's killer. The aim is to have an admin-free, always-on, RAID5, hideable file storage. Mainly so I don't tie up my desktop, and I can bung it in a room where noise doesn't matter.
