serious problems with slimp3 player

Hello,
I'm having really serious trouble with the freshly bought player:

At first it worked without any trouble for some hours, then the display
switched of. After powercycling the device, everything seemed to work again.
But then, the display started to show strange signs and didn't react to the
remote control anymore.

I then uploaded the firmware version 1.1. It was a little difficult because the
firmware upload display on the device was not showing any meaningful characters,
not even the MAC address. Once I figured out the MAC address of the device, the
uplaod program worked flawless.

Things didn't change. Sporadically the display (and the hole device) was going
mad.

Then I tried to upload the firmware version 1.0. But now it seems the device
cannot start into the firmware upload mode. When I power on the device holding
down any button on the remote on of these two happens:

* The display stays black and the upload programm on my linux box says:

Loading image: MAIN.HEX
image[4]==0x30e
Writing 28 words at 0x04
  Verify 1, timeout
  Writing again, attempt 2
  Verify 1, timeout
  Writing again, attempt 3
  Verify 1, timeout
  Writing again, attempt 4
  Verify 1, timeout
  Writing again, attempt 5


* The displays shows just one underscore "_". Firmware uploading doesn't work as
  well. When I pull of the power plug, the firmware upload display shows up for a
  milisecond.

I'm using the device with the provided trafo on a 220V power network.  To me it
seems as if the flash eprom containing the firmware is not stable. After every
power cycle, the device seems to "loose" some firmware code.

Anybody has an idea on how to fix this? At the moment I'm not even able to play
anything.
