Groups.io is fine. I don't go to the sites much -- I'm still using POP3/SMTP for my multiple email accounts, and I've got Outlook set up where I can stand its quirks.
Any company that's trying to justify inaccessibility is also having to justify not selling anything to the single largest employer in the world, the U..S. Government, along with the other governments and agencies and the entire education system. Those economics don't make much sense to me, but I'm not a high pay economist working for a major company, so what do I know?

That's a good point. How do you rate the groups.io site for accessibility, Nicole?

If I turn off styles (CSS) in Waterfox (based on Firefox), the page layout stays nice and readable for the pages I've seen so far, without lots of menu links to fight through first - so that looks promising.

I seem to remember reading about Google defending their legal right to NOT make their sites and services accessible, which just seems outrageous, if true.

If a company commits to keeping things as accessible as possible for blind or deaf people, for example, that also makes it more likely that the rest of us won't run into problems using an old or obscure browser, or a computer that's considered obsolete or underpowered.
