I had a battery problem with my DX-7II.=C2=A0=C2=A0 This was about 10 year=
s ago. Everytime I turned it on I would have to reset everything and reload=
patches.=20
Finally got the nerve to open it up and replace the original battery.
The original battery had tabs on it and was soldered to the board. While re=
moving the battery I damaged a tab and left a hole in the motherboard.=20
oops...=C2=A0 I then decided to get a battery holder. I also decided to wir=
e the battery holder out of the way (you have to remove another circuit boa=
rd to get to where the battery is mounted).=20
I also mounted the battery holder on it's own little board, attached to a m=
ounting screw. If/when the battery goes dead, it's a simple pop out and in =
with a new battery. Batteries and holders are cheap and the fix is simple i=
f you're elegant with a soldering iron.=20
