I recently came across an "album advance" copy of Joni's 2002 "Travelogue".  Gorgeous, simply gorgeous.  It's an orchestral concert, but in the liner notes, the producer makes sure you know that it's not a 'greatest hits with orchestra' album, but rather a cross-section of her songs recorded with a lush beautiful orchestra behind her.  Moving and sad and thrilling and amazing all at once.  One of my best purchases!

I actually saw Joni in concert during this tour (Providence, late 
summer '79) and to this day what I remember most is being transported, 
almost spiritually, by the song "Shadows and Light" as it was done in 
person. And I remember hearing it on the record, some time afterwards 
(I didn't own "Hissing" at that point, sorry to say!), and almost 
feeling like it was a different song, or that maybe I had somehow 
inflated it in my memory into something it wasn't. Probably would be 
nice to do as Bruce suggests and watch the DVD. Thanks for the 
suggestion!

I love this album - probably my favorite live album of all time.  
"Black Crow"
is tremendous.  "Shadows and Light" is better than the studio version - 
it
really comes alive.  This is Joni at the peak of her game, and it is an 
amazing
band.
