This is the most underrated of all the JS albums... I think the fact that it was immediately labelled "jazz" had something to do with that. It's actually one of my very very very favorites. A couple of thoughts that immediately come to mind.... "Maria" (the song) has an irresistible flow - such ease and purity. "Begat Begat" blows you away - definitely one the most powerful JS vocals ever recorded. I never tire of it. You can really get caught up in it and leaves you breathless. "Pumpkinhead" Purity of sentiment. A nice "moment" in the midst of larger arrangements. "Oh My My" JS has said that "The White Tent The Raft" was originally about 30 minutes (in the writing stages). When I hear "Oh My My" I can easily imagine how that could be. Speaks of triumph and leaves the door open at the end. Track one allows you to walk into this sonic landscape with ease... and the end of "Oh My My" leads you gently away. Happy Easter to you all... -Orchidbau http://orchidbau.com PS... Did we skip "Boy"? Or am I just becoming more forgetful?
