Maria was my first Jane CD. I was at a party where our hostess' music collection was not the usual stuff, so I asked her to find me something "different, impressive." She played Maria. Of course I was listening during a party, with much background noise, but it was notably "different, impressive." (I was oblivious to track 10.) Then reading the_All Music Guide_ I learned about the Walking, & just how esp. different & impressive that was. So TW was the first CD of Jane's that I bought. And promptly flipped over! I don't think I've heard anything as impressive since then, over the past 10 or so years. In this song form-- whatever category we're using here, I have to add. Since I've heard as wonderful music in other styles... > early Duke Ellington, & Enescu's chamber music. Then I bought a bunch more, including Maria. More to say, anon, Bruce
