STUDIO on the trail again
leaning over a painting in san francisco, i finally had the lightbulb i 
have been waiting for to complete the 2nd cd. so i booked 2 days in 
vancouver and rolled up my sleeves. opened up 5 songs intended for the 
3rd cd. i broke one in half and will put the main part on this next cd 
and the rest on the last one. enough time has gone by that i can let go 
of some things and in many cases it means simplify.

'this is not the way'
i cut the second half of every four-bar phrase out. i'm tired of long 
songs. get and get out, i say. after these three cds are done, that's 
what i'm onto. 1:30 minute songs. no intros. right to the point, then 
press 'stop'.

'tiny lies are killing me'
i added organ chords in the coldest parts of the songs and it sounds 
very cool. i mean warm. there doesn't seem to be any need for vocals. i 
have changed the name to 'milky way'. for now.

'living statue'
i hadn't heard the strings from nyc yet. i conducted them one pass at a 
time by looking through the door at the audio track on the computer 
screen (it is a very free flowing feel). so we tidied it a bit today. it 
sounds beautiful.

'take me to my tent'
cut it into 2 songs. and also cut it, period. i had forgotten how good 
it feels. and it feels very much in the air although it is about a 
battle long ago. a general. with a tent. i finished the words.

'dark tent'
after fiddling with the structure a few times in the past, i just went 
with what we had and it was fine. i finished the words

'i finished the words' - meaning - if i hadn't been on earth this past 
six months since the last recording sessions, the words would not be 
what they are now. it is true. time seems to do so many good things. 
even if you don't believe in time.
