I, too. LOVE this album. I believe that I have all the albums that these songs
originally appeared on. I've discovered lots of interesting and unique artists
by doing that with most of her songs that appear elsewhere. My favorite is
Takafumi Sotoma, an artist from Japan whose song "Spade and Sparrow" (I call
it "the drip song" for the loud dripping that occurs throughout the song) is
on "City." I would have never disocver this artist, if not for Jane. His
whole body of work is excellent, but nearly impossible to find...

I very much like City. I think every song on it has struck me at
different times.

At one time or another I've tracked down almost all the original albums
on which they appeared, and Jane's songs were universally the standouts
to my ears :).

Why it called City ... my memory is that Jane talked about this in the
liner notes or on her web site or somewhere. Besides living in NYC, the
idea was that the songs all came from very different places and times
but here are residing together on this album. Like a city.

Best,
Karl
