The 7 1/2 =E2=80=9C tape of the radio station recording came up on ebay, la=
st year I think. After checking with an ex-BBC radio recording engineer fr=
iend that he still had a reel to reel tape machine and would be willing to =
do an A to D conversion for me, I bid, but it went over my max bid in the =
final moments.
=20
That=E2=80=99s my first message on this group in a VERY long time.

I've been out of touch with all things TD for some time, but just thought I=
'd bounce in on this. The Glasgow gig was recorded by a Scottish radio stat=
ion, Radio Clyde if I recall, and I think 45 mins or so were broadcast on t=
he radio. I had this for ages before the recent ones showed up but I could =
never actually get it verified by anyone that it was Glasgow, largely I gue=
ss, as I seemed to have the only copy (or at least noone else was admitting=
to it). I presume that the rest of it has now been "dug up" so that'd be g=
reat to hear as the one I had (well, have) is great stuff.
The TD Peel thing was part of the "Oedipus" opus that's now on "Hades".
I shall now get back to my cave......

I thank you too, Morgan. It is wonderful that you are able to keep an archi=
ve of the non-officially released concert recordings. I do the same thing w=
ith removing the tree version from rotation when the show gets released off=
icially. I hope the "Official Bootleg Series" keeps going, especially with =
shows sourced from radio or soundboard. Wouter Bessels has done a great job=
with mastering those sets.
I'm bummed that In Search of Hades is so expensive. I'm interested only in =
the live material and the long-out-of-print music, so that means about half=
the set is not worth it to me. I'm sure that Steve Wilson did an awesome j=
ob with the remastering of the albums, and probably sound much better than =
the copies I have, but I have a hard time justifying double-dipping those a=
lbums (or triple in some cases). If my finances were in better shape I'd pr=
obably jump on it.
It's amazing that these older concerts are showing up all of the sudden, an=
d in excellent quality to boot. This goes for the out-of-print music as wel=
l. I guess Wilson had access to archives that no one else did. Disappointin=
g since we could've had bonus material that was much more relevant on previ=
ous Virgin box sets (<cough>Tangents<cough>). Didn't TD have a BBC Peel Ses=
sion as well?
I was shocked when the Glasgow 74 show popped up. I had no idea there were =
any other earlier shows that were recorded so pristinely besides what was o=
riginally released in the TT. I was in disbelief at first, thinking that pe=
rhaps someone in recent times performed a concert in the spirit of classic =
TD. Where are these recordings coming from all of the sudden? If Glasgow ge=
ts an official release, I'll definitely buy it...As long as it's not embedd=
ed within an expensive set with lots of music I already have in my library.
As a slight side-note... I enjoyed reading Edgar's stories about some of th=
e old concerts in his book. It gave me a new perspective whenever I listen =
to them (like the epic 'This Is Spinal Tap' situations TD dealt with in Aus=
tralia 75).
