better "saving state before deleting all those large database file
before I restart". Could be as simple as better menu structure to save
clicks to accomplish this.

I disagree. I don't think BNR3 was a mistake at all. It was just never
finished. But even in its unfinished state I use BNR3 and would never
go back to BNR2 which I'd used for years.

If I remember correctly the latest version of BNR3 was to test two
main features. The new database and the new thread grouping. All other
features of BNR2 were to be added to BNR3. Jeff was also going to work
on an advanced filtering system to allow us even greater control in
cutting down the amount of headers we actually want to see and browse
through.

IMO the database test was a huge success. I disagree with Lenny on the
speed difference but everyone's experience and system is different.
For me the difference was very noticeable. I could make it very safe
and fault tolerant or not safe but very fast. I opted for speed. My
choice.

So I have BNR3 running just as fast as I remember BNR2 running and I
just have the risk of database corruption should my system lockup
while BNR3 is downloading stuff. It's not guaranteed that the database
will be corrupted even if that happens, just that there is a risk.
