Yes but have you ever had a system lockup period? See my issue wasn't BNR
locking up the system but having a system lockup while BNR was doing its
thing. BNR2 had recovery options that made things very smooth. BNR3 was
incomplete and had not carried over some of those features. The whole point
of recovery options is to make things more fault tolerant. The fault does
not have to be with BNR but could be on the system its run on. 
 
Can BNR3 be used? Of course, I've been using it for the past 2 years without
too much trouble and its been rock solid for the most part. But there has
been times when I had a system lockup which caused BNR troubles that I
wished for the recovery tools of BNR2.
 
Can it be done manually? Of course. Its not hard but the whole point IMO of
most software is to speed up various manual processes. To automate as much
as possible or give us the tools to do so. If I need 3 steps to do something
then if I can narrow it down to one step I've done well.
 
You see this all throughout BNR. Many features Patrick implemented were to
speed things up. To make things even easier for the users of BNR.
 
I would love to see BNR3 completed and enhanced further but as I said I've
used it as is for the past 2 years and the closest alternative I've found to
it was Newsman Pro which is not free. But it has every single feature that I
would love to see added to BNR.

never had a BNR lock up, behave like a prince on my system as is fastest I
have ever found

Neither have I. But I have had my computer lock up while BNR was

running. That's what I said above although I may have worded it badly.

When I said systems locks up because of something else I did I did not

mean to imply that BNR was locking the system up. Just that my system

locked up while BNR was in the process of downloading.

Easy but tedious and that is what BNR2 did away with. I just with BNR3

also did. I have not had to rebuild the queue for a very long time.

On my old XP machine I would get random lockups until I finally fixed

the problem. Those dang creative drivers as well as PCI latency

issues. After creative updated their drivers and I downloaded and used

the PCI latency tool I no longer had any lockups and I had that system

running for the past couple of years with no lockups.

My new system is running Vista and its even more stable than the XP

one, however, right now I'm basically testing various things out on it

so its very likely that I grab something to test and cause a lockup.

Perhaps I'm doing it wrong. Say I have marked 2000 articles in several

news groups and the system crashes. Now assume that I did not backup

the queue as you mentioned.

To rebuild the queue I have always had to just open up each group

(Have to remember which groups they were) and filter so that I see

only those marked for download. I highlight them all and unmark and

remark them so that they are added to the queue. I repeat this for

every group.

Do you know of a different way?
