All you do if you do want to reset the db is to go to the newsgroups page and click on the reset button for each group you want to reset. Close the prog, then run one of the vacuum .bat files I have posted to this list (many times with this info) and you have a fresh small clean and fast db. As for the need for a clean install, I have never seen the need and infact the BNR 2 and 3 setups I use have been dragged round from box to box over the last ??? well at least 7+ years because of one of my servers I got to use with BNR is that old. I have wiped and started frest, but see nothing to be gained ...apart from the ability of saying so, a fresh install runs almost as fast as a fresh vacuumed db. As for the .ini I have yet to see/find anything in there that is not needed. e.g. FilterHist=tng,dsn,ds9_s1,"dsn s5d1",ds9s4,ds9,ds9_,st_ds9,ruimtes,ruimte LastOpen=946836900 NewCount=3271 These three I don't need I think Like newer star trek ? that is your filter list for the group[s] they were attached to, and the amount of posts to said group and the amount to mark new. The lines above them were for the groups sorting, the lines above that were for the groups the names they have and what type they are, but if you want to go thru all of the subbing to each group thing every time then skip it. I am the other way and have a basic .ini that is all filled out with the basic groups, how I like each to sort what it comes under and all of the servers, all filled in so its easy to fix it there is ever a problem, I also have the .ini and que auto saved before each start up of BNRx after the db file[s] are defragged, which I do before each start with the another .bat file I have posted in the past. Server mode is for what mode you have each server running in, like ..I only have 1 overview (header) server and 14 article, a few not used at this time and some testing or normal servers. Search is also a good thing, most of this has been spoke about before.
