I am not sure why you would want to donwload headers, but

I have just downloaded 100,000 headers in "alt.binaries.multimedia" and have only downloaded the current headers using the /group/refresh new headers only/ with the limit of 100,000 with the "Groups/properties/download at most/100,000"

I am a BNR2 user and it might be diferent for BNR3 users. Note BNR2 has a "MsgLst.bnr" size limit of 1 gig. But using BNR2 for downloading nzb files is great. Suggest that you look up the messages for BNR if you want to use a BNR3.

            I asked about d/l older headers/ articles a couple days ago. I am a

long time user of X-news. I am trying to learn the ins and outs of

BRN2.I think in the long run If I can get a handle on some of the

procedures than I think d/l's will be a more efficient operation than

X-news.

There are some newsgroups that may have several million headers and

articles. I made the mistake when I first set up bnr2 to d/l all the

messages for each group that I subscribe to. Needless to say bnr2 had

a hissy-fit. I have run into this time and again with X-news. X-news

allows me to limit the amount of headers at one given time. But it

has the flexibility to d/l either from the first of the cutoff date of

the server or anything in between. It appears that bnr2 starts from

the lasted date then loads the oldest headers that meet my cutoff

headers criteria number. I have read th online manual several times.

Here are my thoughts on the matter. Can you give me some feedback that

will assure me that I am on the right path? If I have gone astray then

some hints that point me in the right direction will be appreciated.

I go to Servers Properties Advance Page and I set up "Download at Most

n headers" at a Bnr2 comfortable number. I then go to Groups Page

Refresh Button and choose "Get New and Missing Headers Button". Will

it then d/l the next set of older messages? TIA
