BNR2 hangs at startup

When I start BNR2 the splash screen is shown and "scanning database" 
then it seams to hang. I have left it for about half an hour to see 
if it would start eventualy. 

I have also tried launching it from the command promt with -debug but 
the same thing happens.

Am I going to have to re-install or is there something else I can try?
