You should refer to the walkthroughs at http://docs.cacti.net.
They show, how to create an SNMP Data Query (among others) step-by-step.
This won't help you identify which part of the OID tree means what; this can be
done if the MIB is at hand (as the MIB usually includes some documentation about
the data)
