Thanks Mike! Right after I wrote this I finally found the magic google search term that led me to this fix: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=101210&aid=1432453&group_id=1210 It would sure be nice if someone released a new version of cricket that had all the necessary hacks in place to get it to work on modern systems (RRD ver 0003, x86_64, etc).
