Short Name Resolution

How can I setup PDNS to resolve short names?

 

I would like to be able to resolve something like "testserver" to
192.168.1.1.  No domain.

 

Right now, I have it import the local /etc/hosts file and that lets me
resolve all the short names in that.

 

Is there a way to configure PDNS so that I can manage the list of short
names from the admin console like the domains/zones I have in there?
