Generally this is the job of the stub resolver on the client, to expand
"testserver" to "testserver.some.domain", by configuring it to retry
queries which fail by adding "some.domain" to them.

Most clients will honour a DHCP parameter for the search domain. For
example, a Linux client may put the setting "search some.domain" in
/etc/resolv.conf
