Kolab is a great thing (hey, I'm a KDE devel :-), but it is quite different to 
E-smith.

I think it might work better if we took the SME additions and bolted them onto 
Kolab. The major functionality that is missing from Kolab is the fileserver 
bits (Samba, ftpd of some kind, and rsync).

If we want to go to in a groupware server direction, it might be better to 
turn SME into a firewall / gateway box, dropping out the non-essential 
functionality.

If we (as a group) want to change this much, we should do so now. I think that 
the SME server community could bring a lot to Kolab.
