Hi Folks

Just as a suggestion for SME and the future, and yes we have mentioned
this before. The absolute killer app for the system is groupware. Now I
have been testing an opensoure project for a few months now called Kolab
(http://kolab.kde.org). It works really well and with an Outlook
connector (bynari or toltec) you can sync and share information very
easily.

There would be a lot of work getting kolab intergrated into SME but
maybe what we should do is take the concepts and get them to work on
SME?

Kolab is a few major components: Cyrus, postfix, sieve, openldap, apache

Everything is centred around openldap - you add an entry into the ldap
database, which will then trigger the creation of a imap mailbox,or edit
the unix password etc....

Cyrus also has acl support which is essential for imap folder sharing
support. There is also support for free-busy (ftp and http). WebDAV over
TLS is also supported for secure connection.

Now to get all these wonderful things work, is not going to be easy. I
would like to know if this would be a worthwhile project or wether is
will be too much of a change to the SME core functions?

Brandon Friedman
